ArHi FF: AM Part 1

Part 1:

Arnav always knew that when marriage time will come for him, it will be difficult for him to make a choice n settle with a girl for rest of his life. But he didn’t know it will be so difficult n scary. Ya, he knows that it’s just a beginning of a procedure to get married n not the marriage time but something different was happening.

At night after dinner, he silently came to his room n locked the door behind him. Now, he can’t ignore the blue envelope kept at the table any more. He has to see the picture. He can surely say no tomorrow but then again a reminder of his di words came back in front as if it is a threat.

“chote, u have to give a valid reason for saying no to the girl” his di had said.

He went forward n took the envelope in his hands. The envelope may have his entire future in it.

He opened the flap of the envelope n took out a picture from it.

Firstly everything in front of his eyes got blurred. He had to actually focus hard on the pic for the clarity. He focused again n saw a girl, very fair, slim, with long hairs curled out at the end wearing a simple light pink color anarkali suit with no makeup on except lip gloss, she wore golden sandals. She was smiling looking at the camera. It really looked a genuine smile with twinkle in her eyes. She was standing in front of a garden with lots of flowers behind her. Over all the girl in the pic looked really very pretty n it gave really a nice feeling.

He hadn’t expected this reaction from himself seeing the pic. The girl was really pretty. He can’t reject the girl on the basis of looks as if it mattered. Looks never was on top of his priority list n by seeing the pic the reason got completely vanished. He has to think of other alternative but somehow his mind is not allowing him.

“Let’s give it a try” arnav said to the empty space of his room. Ya, it’s not like he have to marry her immediately if he says YES about the pic to his di. He will meet her n definitely the girl will disappoint him n then he will have a valid reason to say no to this girl.

But what if the girl didn’t disappoint him? A tiny thought came to his mind regarding it but then suddenly he shoves that thought out. No girl can be perfect in everything. She may be a decently good looking girl but that doesn’t mean that she will be a smart outgoing girl of today, she must be a girl with attitude or thinking of previous decade otherwise how nani would have approved or which girl do arrange marriages at this era n this will be enough as a reason for him to say no to the girl. It will also keep them all quite for some time about the whole marriage thing.

He gave a final glimpse to the pic again n kept the picture at bedside table. Sleep will be hard to come tonight. He doesn’t know why he was being restless. Was it because of the answer he has to give tomorrow morning or because of the prospect of meeting the pic girl in future.

These thoughts revolved around his head n finally sleep claimed him.

Khushi rushed to her room n locked it up. She can’t run from all of this anymore. She has to see the pic n give a final say tomorrow. Her amma must have not said much about the pic now but she could feel the impatience in her voice in the kitchen when she questioned her about the pic.

Her hands were still sticky by the gulab jamun. She went to the washroom n got fresh n up. She came out n could not ignore the envelope she had kept at the drawer. She has to see the pic, she may see her future husband in it. She went n opened the drawer. Took the envelope n went back to the bed.

She could feel fluttery feeling at the pit of her stomach, she is nervous. She opened the envelope n took out the picture from it. Khushi was seeing a very tall, fair man with his hairs cropped up n his eyes hidden behind the glares. The man was wearing a black tux n was standing in front of a large building. Confidence n power, that’s all she could see in his face. He was not smiling n he was actually even not looking at the camera. He was a really a nice looking guy.

“But nature matters.” Khushi thought ignoring the fact that the man was really handsome.

What will she say tomorrow to her mom? She must have a good reason to say no. by this pic, there is no reason for declining the guy but surely she will meet him n then can say no to this proposal on the grounds of his behavior n nature.

The man looked confident n arrogant n these reasons are enough to say no.

Khushi smiled n fell to sleep soon with the pic still in her hand.
